An Australian Work and Holiday visa is available for Portuguese citizens under 31, allowing in some cases up to two years of full time work. Work and Holiday Visa

462 Visa General Requirements 

Australia’s Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) is a visa that enables 200 young people from Portugal to holiday and work in Australia for up to a year.

If during this year certain work requirements are met, this visa can be extended for a further year.

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the time you lodge your visa application
  • Hold a valid Portuguese Passport
  • Be able to show evidence that you have sufficient funds (about EUR 3,300) to support yourself for the initial stage of your holiday. (You can verify this with recent bank statements)
  • You must hold a tertiary qualification or have completed at least two years of undergraduate university studies,
  • You must have functional English and show the results of an official English test such as IELTS or TOEFL,
  • obtain a letter of support from the Portuguese Government.
  • you need to satisfy character and health requirements
  • declare that you will respect the values of Australia and abide by the laws of Australia
